Tireless runner
Rather, the heart of the summer catcher is an endless, pointless runner. Instead, meet specific goals in each area before moving on to the next. Chu is the main character, a young girl who has lived in the icy north all her life and has never seen summer. When she wakes up under a pile of snow, she meets a friendly creature and calls it Bear (actually, it’s a local wolf who builds her a wooden pattern). With the help of a friend, she begins her adventure to spend the summer in a magical journey. It’s up to you to help Chu on his journey from the frozen land of winter to the ocean of summer in a homemade go-kart. Along the way she encounters holes filled with sharp ice blocks, collapsing bridges and other dangers. Thankfully, the little girl wants you to help her understand how dangerous it is to walk alone!

Three tools to use
You start with three consumables that allow you to break, jump or overcome obstacles in your path, and later you can unlock more. Each zone has similar variations of obstacles, including totems that are built absolutely everywhere for some reason
Almost all of the gameplay consists of Chu driving his car in 2D in various environments. The challenge is how quickly you can react to the situation to survive the next second. As Chu glides across the screen, you must use tools that correspond to specific obstacles in a split second.

As you drive, the tools you buy appear randomly in the three tool slots on the side of the screen. When you use a tool, another becomes available in the same slot until you run out of tools. Because the tools appear in random order, there are often situations where you don’t have the right equipment to overcome the next obstacle. Hazards are also random, so they can’t be remembered.
However, it is sometimes possible to combine devices to avoid many obstacles at once, or to avoid obstacles for which they are not designed. In other cases, you still suffer damage because you did not press the button quickly enough.

Three failures allowed
If you fail three times, you go back to the beginning of the level. With the added challenge of only three tool stations, resource management becomes an important factor. It’s pretty easy at first because there are only three tools: Jump, increase speed and shield. Unfortunately for me, my reaction time was reduced to nothing in a manual map (pun intended), which, while I enjoyed the game, was a frustrating experience.
The story of Summer Catches is constantly evolving, so it’s not an endless level, but rather an experience based on a story with many difficulties. The game features story actions characterized by different areas where you meet new characters and acquire new skills. Fortunately, Chu is helped by the interesting characters she meets. Some of them can even help you during the race. They take the form of collectibles called pets, and sometimes you have to convince them before they will help you. There are also a number of other collectibles to find and secrets to unlock, including various mini-games and mythical creatures.

Full applications
To succeed, you’ll need to complete quests in each zone, shred the level, and then occasionally experience a single event or boss fight. Quests include things like waking up sleeping owls, picking berries, planting trees, etc. If a quest requires a particular item, it will automatically be added to Chu’s inventory. They also appear randomly in the toolboxes, so you may have to walk past the quest object if the tool you need doesn’t appear.
Buy in the shop.

Besides the quests you have to complete, you can also visit the shop. You will find tools to avoid danger. You pick mushrooms at every race, and it’s your money you spend on Chu’s costumes. You can also buy cards to change the look of the go-karts.
If you run out of mushrooms, you can start a race, crush yourself and repeat until you have the desired amount, because everything you pick up is saved, whether you win or lose. After you leave the area, you can stay in touch with the characters you left behind. There is a postal service that allows you to send and receive letters from strange animal characters. The ability to send email is a nice touch that the developers have added.
Playing Summer Spectacular can be challenging (for me anyway), the gameplay itself is pleasantly addictive and the game has a very positive atmosphere. No matter how many times Chu crashes, his positive attitude radiates throughout the game. It makes you want to try again and again to help Chu through the summer she so desperately wants to see.

Visual aids and controls
Pixel art and environmental details are stunning when you visit beautiful vistas and panoramas in different environments. There is a lot of detail everywhere, even the character models are well thought out. I noticed that the writing style of Summer Catcher really suffers from translation issues, with some typos and errors in
sentences during some of the quest divers’ conversations.
The music and sound effects are excellent, from the quiet and catchy music to the sinister music during the boss fight that leads you to the final boss. Chu growls, shouts and yells happily as she continues. With music and sound effects, the whole thing evokes the atmosphere of an adventure on the road.
You can control the game with the rides or the touch screen, both work equally well. I preferred using the Joy-Con for the controls, but that’s just a personal preference.

Completion
Summer vacations are a great way to pass the time and show Choo the ocean. When I first started playing Summer Catchers, I wasn’t sure what to think of the game, but you know what? It’s grown on me!
Like I said before, Chu has an attitude that really transfers to you and makes you want to try to succeed. I love the artistic style and the gameplay itself is going to be very engaging.
Final Verdict: I love the party.
