CD PROJEKT RED’s next major patch for Cyberpunk 2077 will address some of the controversial issues in the sci-fi title with police behavior and vehicle handling. The Polish publisher detailed the upcoming changes in a news release filed yesterday by Night City reporter Gillian Jordan, who confirmed that patch 1.2 is expected to result in fewer cops magically multiplying behind players, as well as speed and direction adjustments to make driving easier. Other improvements include an instability feature that can be used when vehicles get stuck on objects, the ability to disable double tapping the move button to dodge, and more options for the WASD keyboard on keyboards.
Is the NCPD Rapid Response Team going too fast?
This is an important step in addressing the problem of policing in our game. This should reduce the problem of NPCs ruminating behind players’ backs and making it seem like it takes a while for the police to arrive on scene after a crime is reported. We have also added a reconnaissance drone to give the impression that the police are assessing the situation. – Patrick, Lead Gameplay Designer and Lukasz, Technical Development Coordinator, CD PROJEKT RED
The number of road deaths is higher than ever
The feedback analysis of our driving model showed that many players had problems with the steering speed. Most complaints came from players using PC keyboards or platforms with slower frame rates, and were about the difficulty of keeping cars off sidewalks and the like.
We’ve added a slider for directionality in the Settings menu. This slows the steering speed for all vehicles and input devices without affecting the maximum turning radius.
With a lower frame rate, our machines were harder to control. We found the cause of this problem in a code that didn’t correctly handle extreme frame rate changes. The steering speed is now very stable between 20 and 60+ FPS.
Finally, we looked at some settings for individual machines and adjusted some that were too jerky at low frame rates, including the Archer Hellu player. – Seamus, Senior Vehicle Programmer, CD PROJECT RED
Rock and roll for riders
There are occasions when our cars can come to the beach or to town for Night City. We’ve now added the Unstuck feature, which works when you’re on the throttle and not moving. By holding down the accelerator pedal, you can tilt the vehicle forward or backward or turn it left or right. – Seamus, Senior Vehicle Programmer, CD PROJECT RED
Update your neuroprocessor drivers or die.
You can disable dodging by double-clicking in the controller settings. The Dodge action can be performed by double-clicking the Crouch(toggle) action (default is C). It should now be more convenient to move the WASD attachments to the keyboard. There are still a few bindings to be adjusted, but those will be in the next corrections. – Wojtek, tool programmer, CD PROJECTION RED
According to a tweet from February, CD PROJEKT RED plans to release patch 1.2 later this month. The developer had planned to make the patch available earlier, but was unable to do so due to a recent cyber attack on the studio that had a significant impact on the IT infrastructure.
We actually wanted to deliver the 1.2 patch for Cyberpunk 2077 within the time frame we had previously indicated. Unfortunately, due to the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and the extensive upgrade, this will not be possible – we need more time. 1/3
