It’s been a few years since the last Summer Game Fest, but the organizers are determined to make it bigger and better than ever this time around! The plans are for a full week of games, cosplay, panels, and more, with the whole weekend dedicated to the celebration of the best that games have to offer. When the team last met up to plan the event they were excited to start the party by establishing a new tradition: the Game Fest Grand Re-Opening!
Summer Game Fest, a celebration of all things gaming, is back for a fourth year. This year’s event will be held in a new venue, and will feature some of the best game content creators in the industry. E3 season is finally here, and last night was our very first event, Summer Game Fest 2021: Kickoff Live! where we saw lots of new games, world premieres and reveals. We have collected them all and present them here for you. Announcement of Tiny Tina’s Wonderland 2K Games and Gearbox Software opened the show with the world premiere of their brand new game Stellar Wonderland. It’s a spin-off of the Borderland series and a brand new IP from the studio. The film is expected to hit theaters in early 2022. Discover the trailer below: Metal Slug Tactics announcement Dotemu X Leikir Studios and SNK have unveiled Metal Slug Tactics, a new game in the long-running Metal Slug franchise that revives the iconic franchise from the 1990s. No further details have been released at this time. Discover the trailer below: Death Stranding: Director’s Cut announcement on PS5 Hideo Kojima made an appearance at Summer Game Fest 2021 and revealed some details about his next project. (Or is it?). In addition, he indicated that Death Stranding: The Director’s Cut is coming to the PS5. A release date for the film has not yet been announced, but the trailer suggests it will be out soon. See below: Jurassic World Evolution 2 announced Jeff Goldblum also made an appearance and revealed the title of Frontier: Jurassic World Evolution 2. The game will be released in 2021 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. However, no other details have been announced yet. Joanna Fariess, the new general manager of Call of Duty, then contacted us to share some details and talk about the fourth season of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War | Warzone. The game will be released in 2022 on all major platforms, including consoles and PC. Discover the trailer below: Smite X Stranger Things Battle Pass announced Hello Rez Studios, Tencent and Level Up! Games has announced a crossover of its latest IP with the Netflix series Stranger Things. As part of the crossover, Smite is getting a Stranger Things-like Battle Pass. It will be the 13th. In July 2021, the new Upside Down Arena map will be available. Discover the trailer below: New Prime Matter Studio Unveiled + New Painkiller Game Announced Then we learned about the new Prime Matter Studio and some of the games they are currently working on. Saber Interactive also revealed that the studio is currently working with Prime Matter on a new Painkiller game. Details were not disclosed during the event. This is a 4-player cooperative shooter set in a giant abandoned spaceship on the edge of explored space. Players must work together to survive the alien waves and escape. Discover the trailer below: Rocket League X F9 Announcement Psyonix has announced the latest collaboration between Rocket League and the upcoming F9 movie. This collaboration will add three new vehicles to the game from the DLC game that will be featured in the new movie. A set of three cars will be available on the 17th. SGF is run by the Thinkofgames team, a group of gaming enthusiasts, who bring their love of games to the community.

During the 2019 Summer Game Fest, I will be hosting a live-streaming event in the form of a game-themed podcast discussion, with some guests, on June 28. After the show, I’ll post a blog entry that details how it went, including the show notes. Elora’s been playing a lot of games this summer. She’s been putting herself through school by playing games on the side, and she’s been teaming up with her friends in videos and streams to earn money playing Fortnite, Battlefield, and Rocket League. But now she’s getting to the point where she wants to take her game to the next level.
