The working title of this year’s Call of Duty game is Call of Duty WWII: Vanguard. That’s according to Warzone and Call of Duty Modern Warzone fansite, whose sources confirm that the title is in development for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Developer of the Sledgehammer World War II games. During World War II: Vanguard will focus primarily on World War II. Other rumors indicate that parts of the game will be set in the 1950s, after the war.
This has led to much speculation as to whether the next COD title will be set during the Korean War, writes Modern War Zone. While this article confirms that this is a World War II title, it does not confirm that there are no references to the Korean War in the game. This rumor must now stand, because we cannot disprove it. We also don’t expect official sources or developers to comment on this leak.
It’s possible that Call of Duty follows a new fictional timeline in which World War II didn’t end in 1945, but continued in some form into the 1950s. We will keep you all informed as soon as we know more about this situation.
Sources at Eurogamer have confirmed Modern Warzone’s claims that this year’s Call of Duty game will be called Call of Duty WWII: Avant-garde, but what he doesn’t accept is that it happened in the 1950s.
