Xbox consoles will get an update to the Edge browser that will allow users to stream and play PC games through various services such as Google Stadia and NVIDIA GeForce NOW. The information comes from Video Games Chronicle, which confirmed that alpha testers have already had the privilege of trying out the new Edge variant on Xbox One and Xbox X|S consoles, which runs on Chrome and supports the same level of compatibility as its traditional desktop counterpart. This means that Xbox users can use the browser to run web applications, ranging from the aforementioned game streaming services to chat applications like Discord.
GeForce Now compatibility allows Xbox gamers to stream many of their Steam games to their consoles, including the PlayStation-exclusive Death Stranding, as well as versions of Cybperunk 2077, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and more, reports Video Games Chronicle. GeForce Now also supports the Epic Games Store, meaning users can stream exclusive products from the store, including Hitman 3, Fortnite and Rogue Company.
GeForce Now is free and available by subscription for faster access and RTX support. The service differs from other services like Google’s Stadia in that gamers can stream their existing Steam and Epic Game Store libraries to multiple devices like smartphones or laptops. On Sunday, it was confirmed that the new Chromium Edge browser can run Google Stadia, allowing console users to stream their game library.
A YouTuber named Joe Chip has shared a video showing how Xbox users who have updated to the new Edge browser can play Steam games on Microsoft consoles equipped with NVIDIA GeForce NOW. This feature seems to work pretty well, but some games, such as. B. Quake II RTX, may be a problem due to the lack of support for edge mice.
