- Type of mission : Strike (Joint)
- Location: Ness
- Duration of strike: 20-30 minutes
- Size of fire brigade: 1-3 players
The Vexes on Ness have increased in number and the Red Legion is sending crews to the planet.
Failsafe has discovered seismic damage and suspects it to be the cause, making Vanguard’s search for the cause indispensable.
You and your fire team have been sent to investigate what’s going on, and whatever it is, you have to stop it.
Objectives of the strike
Explore the Cabal
They first descend from the landing site and go to the Cabal to see what they are doing.
It may take a while to reach the waypoint, so get in your car to save time.
Defeat all enemies
When you reach a waypoint, eliminate all enemies in that area and move on to the next waypoint.
Beware of enemies that spawn in this area after clearing the first stack, as they can grab you if you are vulnerable.
Access to Conflux
Once you have eliminated all remaining enemies in this area, the Conflux will appear and you must get close to it to access it.
Once you access Conflux, a floating path will appear in front of you that you must cross to get to the crosswalk.
You have to plan your jumps in advance, because one wrong move can get your character killed.
Continue
Go past the floating passage, take one of two paths (one may be more difficult than the other), and continue to the crossing.
After you cross the floating track, circular rings appear and lift you into the air. You should try not to move too much, or you may be triggered the other way.
Just jump in the ring and let them take you to the other side. You land safely until you try something fun.
After the first set of rings, you’ll make your way to your waypoint and continue fighting the enemies that come your way.
At the end, there will be a colossus with another set of rings, which you may have to defeat to get the rings, or it will take you down if you don’t hurry.
Ground transit
If you continue, you’ll end up in Anchor, a forbidden zone, which means you can’t reproduce after you’ve been killed, but you’ll have to start the object over.
The energy shield is blocking the only way forward, and you need to find a way to turn it off.
Eliminate Vex
The Failsafe system causes the Vex structures in this area to hold a barrier, and you must disable them to remove the shield.
You need to clear the area of the Vexes, and you can do that by shooting at them from a distance or by taking the risk of jumping over the breach and getting close to them, depending on your comfort level.
Continue
Once you’ve eliminated the Vex that supports the barrier, go to the next intersection.
Proximity location
The ghost will report that Kabala is drilling in an area believed to be the source of the seismic activity taking place.
Go to the crossing and you will come across a Drake (armored car) where a member of your fire team can get in and do a lot of damage to enemies.
Persons on foot are advised to see if a member of the Drake Fire Department will cover them if they are unable to maneuver or focus on certain angles.
Proximity location
When everyone is done, go to the drill site to catch up with Drake.
Fight your way through a field of enemies and make your way to the marked drill site.
Eliminate all on-site security measures
There will be armed teams during the exercise, and you will have to push them and get two agents out of them at different locations.
Both officers are marked with waypoints, and you can easily find them in what appear to be bunkers.
Installation of drilling rig
Once you’ve taken the officers out of the Cabal, head to the marked crossing and interact with the machines that allow you to use the vehicles from the nearby ring to transport you to the platform.
Once you reach the other side, enemy troops will keep watch. You can take them out with your gun or you can throw a grenade at them.
After you free the guards at the top of the exercise, go in and out, but prepare for a fight.
Realignment of the transit system
Get close and interact with the nearest console to reroute the transit system, and prepare to fight against even more enemies.
As soon as you operate the console, enemies start attacking your location from different directions.
Release all attackers
While the transit systems are restarting, fend off any enemies that try to stop the process until it has progressed 100%.
The rings will line up differently once 100% is reached, and you and your fire team can use them to get to the other side.
Overrun of construction pit
Pick the right ring that indicates where the waypoint is and try not to move around too much, as many players die at this stage by landing in the wrong place or banging their face against the wall.
Once you land, head to the excavation site and fight off any enemies that might stop you.
Removing the drill bit
Continue your way to the crossing, but watch out for the drill, because the spinning parts can hit you and, yes, kill you instantly.
There is a safe path to cross and at the end you can safely go to the well at the bottom of the property.
Examination of the excavation site
Once you have entered the excavation site, continue in the direction of the crossing and approach the final phase of the impact.
You will find a number of enemies of the Quantum Harpy in the area, but you will be able to shoot them quickly. As soon as you get closer, Proteon, the modular spirit, appears.
Overcoming the modular mind
Once the Proteon Modular Minds appear, you and your fire team can immediately attack it for a set amount of time or until you’ve done enough damage.
Every time you grab one of the Proteon Health Bars, the area you are standing on disappears and you need time to jump on the landing to avoid damage.
You can completely empty the Proteon Modular Mind nutrition bar if you fall down after 2 times.
During the first phase of the fight, or three Health Bars, Protheon will try to teleport and attack you with his Torch Hammer.
In the second phase of the fight, Proteon will stay in the middle and attack you with his bow gun, occasionally hitting the ground to create a wave of fire on the ground.
In the third phase, Protheon will trade in his percussion bow shotgun and attack you with percussion grenades as well, but if you and your fire team act quickly, you’ll be able to take them out in a matter of seconds.
Tips
- Try to get used to your jumping ability, or adjust it so that you can perform most of these kicks correctly, as this can be helpful.
- Some enemies will fight each other during the attack, which you can use to your advantage.
Proteon changes weapons every time you fall, and becomes even more deadly in the final stage.
Summary
After defeating Proteon, the Modular Spirit, the strike will end and you will prevent factions from trying to use the Spirit.
It seems that Vex discovered that Kabal had discovered Mind and decided to retire to take his place, and Failsafe calculated that there was a 60% chance that the asteroid would be destroyed.
Thanks to your efforts, the asteroid remains safe and the modular mind has been destroyed, so no one can take control of it.
