I have to say, it looks much more bearable in the anime. It seems like they’re all there for the good old days (well, most of the series).
But there’s a whole range of characters who fill these roles. Which are the most emblematic?
Let’s dive into the world of hospitality and discover some of the most remarkable waiters and waitresses the anime has to offer.
18. Mirajan Ostrich
Anime: Fairy Tail
Mirajanna is the waitress to whom you should give a big tip, because she is a real angel. And not giving him a nice big tip would be a sin.
She is a mother figure to the guild and has the tolerance of a saint who almost never gets angry about anything. She also helps out at the bar all the time.
But even though I ironically called her an angel, she also has a demonic/disgusting side that you definitely don’t want to see.
So, again, 20% or more if you value your current (and future) life.
17. Fukuyama
Anime: Dorohedoro
Fukuyama is a waiter in Tanba restaurant, he is quite difficult to describe.
You could say that he is similar to Mirage because he is very nice and hardworking. But he can also be very dangerous when cornered.
But do you want to know what his power is?
He can turn you into a pie and sell your transformed corpse for a profit.
I don’t know if I can eat in a restaurant with this information….. but this guy is really trying.
16. Elizabeth Lyons
Anime: The seven deadly sins
Elizabeth is anything but a normal waitress, as she only works when the gang is in between adventures. But I think it’s still worth mentioning.
She is a typical shy female character who can be cool when needed, but spends most of her time with the gang.
Her relationship with Meliodas is very sweet and tragic at the same time – but since he’s technically also her employer, she really should seek advice from HR.
15. Aoi Tokura
Anime: Rainy Cocoa.
It’s a small series, so we won’t see much of Aoi. But it seems they’ve made a waiter out of him.
He always has a smile on his face and serves even the rudest customers. He can also pretend to be a dog to cheer you up, but I think it’s neither.
I should add that he is often mistaken for a woman. This, in its own way, may attract some customers …..
14. Ryu Lev
Anime: Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?
Ryu is both a great and a terrible waitress.
On the one hand, she’s as good as anyone else. And you’re more likely to kill a minotaur with a rusty spoon than make him laugh.
She, on the other hand, is an experienced fighter who always keeps the peace in the bar and kicks out restless customers when necessary.
So you win some and you lose some, but she’s really nice. So she gets a pass from me.
13. Gidery Kanzaki
Anime: Mixture of S
At first I thought I had nothing in common with this guy.
Still, Hideri is a man, and that’s where my first instinct came from.
He likes to be feminine and even dreams of becoming a pop idol one day, which I can’t really understand.
But then I found out that he had applied to be a waiter to get away from the responsibility of running his parents’ farm. And I was there for him.
And as for Aoi, can you imagine the shock her appearance in the café causes?
12. Mahiru Inami
Anime: It works!
Mahiru may be the perfect waitress, but with one small exception.
Due to some very questionable actions of his father, Mahiru is terrified of men.
She is so scared that any encounter with one of them ends with either her passing out or the lights going out.
As long as there are no male customers, she is the perfect waitress.
And I mean, she’s getting better, so maybe one day she’ll be trusted with a sharp object surrounded by male customers.
11. Tuka Kirishima
Anime: Tokyo Ghoul
If you’ve seen the series, you know that being a waitress is far from the only thing going on in Touki’s life, with all those creeps in the background.
But she’s doing very well. She can flash a fake smile like the best of them, and she can quickly kick your ass when you start making trouble.
Also (and this is just speculation on my part), since she has to constantly drink coffee to suppress her urge to eat someone’s face, I feel like she understands customers on a basic level when it comes to the need for caffeine.
10. Kuro
Anime: A restaurant in another world
If Kuro was a waitress, I would be a regular at this restaurant.
And I say that not for the usual kawaii waitress quotient, but because it probably has the best storylines.
I mean, he’s a 30,000 year old dragon who is worshipped as a god in his world.
I could see she had something to say about her struggles and adventures.
She also usually speaks telepathically, which makes her a better waitress to avoid social awkwardness.
9. Shinichi Sakurai
Anime: Uzaki wants to go out!
The only good thing about working in retail is that you have time to have fun between shifts.
And boy, does Sakurai make it interesting.
With the double-breasted Uzaki clinging to their skin, the Asai duo are in the front row from the moment the doors open in a rousing romantic comedy.
Don’t get me wrong, Sakurai seems to be a competent server too. But the drama is certainly what brings bread to the table in his case.
8. Misaki Ayuzawa
Anime: The maid!
As far as character development goes, Misaki is pretty convincing.
In this regard, Misaki, like Mahira, does not like men very much.
But instead of punching them in the face, she becomes a class leader and stands up for the women far more than the men in her class.
But when she is in uniform, she is very persuasive and seems to like and respect almost every customer who walks through the front door.
Sure, it slips sometimes… but you have to respect the determination!
7. Chiho Sasaki
Anime: The devil is a timekeeper!
From a semantic point of view, this is a grey area in terms of server position. But I’m going to turn it on anyway.
Chiho works at McDonald’s with the demon lord Sadao. That’s pretty standard for a fast food restaurant.
She is one of the cutest, bubbliest characters ever and carries the kawaii factor of the series on her little back.
She may be very jealous of Sadao, and she’s confident, but I still love her.
6. Souta Takanashi
Anime: It works!
This man is grossly underpaid.
Suta works with the aforementioned Mahiru and goes to work every day knowing that he may return with broken ribs and internal bleeding.
To avoid at least some damage, he starts coming to work disguised as a woman.
And in that moment, I didn’t know what to say. Because he looked like he was in pain, but he also looked like an S-class fall. So many emotions.
5. Konata Izumi
Anime: A good star
Konata is really a character for people. Specifically, for people on the internet.
His biggest hobbies are manga, anime and adult video games. She likes to play sick pranks and also fool others all the time, and she procrastinates and then goes out at night like a lunatic.
A truly revolutionary character in terms of switchability.
And get this: She worked in a cosplay café and dressed up as Suzumiya Haruhi, which means she even has good taste in female otaku.
4. Sir Flover
Anime: Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?
Seer was just a likable character who didn’t seem to have any bad side.
She was always so cute and healthy.
Sure, she might not have been as cool as Ryu, but she still had charm. And she was honestly a much better waitress.
Until you start looking for a theory on who she really is…. then she’s a little less cute, but a lot more interesting! And frankly, I’m good at both.
3. Faris Nyannean
Anime: Steins,Gates.
Cat people are generally a take-it-or-leave-it situation for me. But Faris just pushed all the right buttons.
She’s great as a waitress, because her character is so charming and memorable that dozens of customers come to her cafe just to play her.
And I can see why.
She’s a bit goofy, likes to make up names, and acts like everything she does is a super trick. But it’s fascinating.
She certainly means no harm, either. And his voice really made all the nya nyas sink like butter.
2. Aletta
Anime: A restaurant in another world
I feel like it’s impossible to write one of these lists without mentioning a demon lord, and today is no different.
Aletta is a young demon working with our scaly friend Kuro.
Because her timeline was so far behind modern civilization, Aletta could knock over everything from elevators to cardboard boxes.
It’s very pretty, and quite clean for an appearance normally associated with destruction.
