Fresh from another weekend of bug fixes and new features, the Diablo 2 patch has arrived. The new hotness comes in the form of dungeon levels and an awesome new system called the “expert system”. The new dungeon system will allow for unique content (with many different types of rewards) to be made for the player.
The latest patch for Blizzard’s Diablo 2 was released earlier this week, and as is tradition, the patch notes have been posted on the Diablo 2 web site. This year (the 19th), there are some notable changes that are especially interesting to those of us who played the game in its original incarnation.
It seems like Blizzard Entertainment is finally starting to pay attention to the community and giving us some insight on what they are working on and what they plan to add to the game in the future. This, of course, comes after several years of patching out problems in the game that game players have been vocalizing about for years.. The Diablo 2 Resurrected beta is entering its second weekend, and this time it’s an open beta that anybody may play. Blizzard has released a patch to fix a few problems in preparation for the forthcoming event. The August 19 patch notes for Diablo 2 Resurrected mainly consist of bug patches, including stability and performance improvements, as well as a minor modification to skill purchases, which now require a separate button push on the controller. However, there is an important announcement concerning recipes that you should read about. The complete Diablo 2 Resurrected patch notes can be found below.
Players on consoles were apparently spending their skill points inadvertently. Blizzard responded by implementing a minor patch that should resolve the issue. The majority of the bug fixes are for crashes and poor server connection.
Blizzard recently made a major announcement regarding Horadric Cube recipes and Rune Words. Some recipes were previously ladder-only, but they will now be available in both non-ladder multiplayer and single-player modes. The entire blue post from the Blizzard forums is as follows:
We’ve heard a lot of speculation and comments from the community in the past week about Ladder play coming after launch. We wanted to take this opportunity to announce that Ladder Only Rune Words, Unique Items, and Horadric Cube Recipes, which were previously only available to Ladder level players, will now be available to non-ladder multiplayer and single player players for the first time.
We realize that these goods go well with popular builds and playstyles in the community. Furthermore, we’ve been hearing from the community for a long time that these things should be included in the single player experience. Now solitary players may participate in the metas that have been popularized as a result of the multiplayer Ladder experience. Additionally, single-player will now have access to the Pandemonium Event as well as Uber Diablo content.
We aim to deploy Ladder rankings and listings soon after launch to reduce server impact and preserve the game’s server stability during the launch window. This will provide players a fair opportunity to compete in the inaugural season’s Ladder for Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II: Diablo II Resurrected, with no problems with launch window stability that would obstruct the experience. We’ll let the community know the specific day and time in September once we have a better idea on this front.
We hope this clarifies our plans for the Ladder and associated technologies when they debut. We’re excited to share the Ladder start times with the rest of the community. We’ll give players ample warning once it’s locked down so they can make the necessary adjustments for their race to 99. Thank you very much.

CHANGES IN FUNCTIONALITY
GENERAL
- Purchases of skills now require separate button pushes (Controller)
Developer Remarks
This modification was implemented because many players were awarding points to abilities they didn’t plan to. We’re hoping that this modification will help to alleviate that problem, particularly because re-speccing is more difficult in Diablo II.

Blizzard’s Diablo 2 has been out since 2000, but that hasn’t stopped the free to play title from receiving regular updates. The latest patch, 1.15, was released for Diablo 2 a couple of weeks ago, and after patching the game, fans were shocked to learn that the patch notes were not based on the official 1.15 Content Update, but rather, were based on a post from the official Diablo subreddit..
