Account setbacks in RAID: Shadow Legends rarely happen because the battles suddenly become too difficult. Most of the real damage comes from decisions you make during your first few days, before you fully understand the true value of Silver, XP, Books, and premium resources.

These Raid Shadow Legends tips and tricks cover 25 specific mistakes across six areas: starter rewards and promo codes, Champion development, Gear and Silver management, Energy and Campaign progression, resource planning, and Clan systems. Each entry explains what goes wrong and what you should do instead.

25 Raid Shadow Legends Tips and Tricks New Players Wish They Knew Earlier

1. Wasting Your New-Player Promo Code Opportunity

Before you create your account, you can activate a promotional starter link that gives you two free Epic or Legendary champions in your in-game mailbox after you reach an early milestone. If you register without using it, those champions are gone permanently.

Moduletd lets you pick two starter Champions through a link generator, add a third through the promo code option, and register through a personalized link to collect the full three-Champion package. For a brand-new account, this is the most valuable free head start available before your first login.

2. Using a Promo Code Without Checking Its Account Eligibility

Not all RAID promo codes work the same way. Using the wrong code on the wrong account type can lead to a failed redemption, wasted eligibility, or a one-hour lockout after three invalid attempts in a row.

New Player codes, such as JUMPSCORE, which grants Miscreated Monster with XP Brews and Silver, or BACK2SCHOOL, which grants Kallia with Force Brews and Silver, can only be used once per account and must be redeemed within 72 hours of creating the account.

All Player codes, such as FORTRESS, which grant Walking Tomb Dreng, work on any account but allow only one redemption every 24 hours.

Before entering any code in-game, check its category on the Moduletd promo code page. Both types are clearly labeled and kept current.

3. Choosing a Starter Reward Based Only on the Champion’s Name or Rarity

When choosing your starter, it’s easy to go straight for the Legendary label or the most impressive-looking portrait without checking what the champion actually does. Rarity doesn’t guarantee early-game value.

A Legendary designed for mid-game buff compositions might not help much during your first two weeks, while an Epic with strong Campaign damage and good survivability can contribute from Day 1. Look at each option’s role and abilities before you commit, because how you make the decision matters more than the pick itself.

4. Spreading Champion XP Across Too Many Champions

Splitting XP Brews and Campaign runs across five or six Champions at once leaves your entire roster at moderate levels, with no single Champion strong enough to carry harder Campaign stages or run food-leveling efficiently.

RAID’s early progression is designed around having at least one properly developed Champion rather than a wide but shallow roster. Plarium’s own resources, and the advice in any solid raid shadow legends new player guide, highlight building one reliable Campaign farmer first as the foundation for everything that follows.

Get that Champion clearing stages consistently on Auto before expanding your investment to a second priority Champion.

5. Investing in a Champion Before Checking Whether They Fit Your Early-Game Team

Pulling a new champion from a Shard is exciting, and it’s tempting to give them a full Gear set and start using Books immediately.

Before you do that, ask one question: what specific gap does this champion fill, and is that something your team actually needs right now? A second healer when damage is your real problem, or another buffer when Clan Boss keys are already your priority, can simply consume Gear, Silver, and Books that would have been better spent elsewhere. Know what your team needs before you commit your resources.

6. Feeding a Valuable Champion as Food

Once you confirm a sacrifice, that champion is gone from your account. The XP you gain doesn’t come close to making up for what you lose. Faction Wars utility, Dungeon potential, and team-building options you haven’t discovered yet can all disappear with one tap. Check the rarity label before confirming any sacrifice, not after the screen has already loaded.

7. Treating All Uncommon and Rare Champions as Disposable

The instinct to feed anything below Epic makes sense at first, but it becomes a real problem when it turns into a habit. Some Rare champions provide real value in Faction Wars teams or fill important Dungeon roles before you have a full Epic roster. Give every Rare a quick kit check before feeding them. If they provide something your current team can’t do, keep them. If they don’t, feed them because you’ve made a decision, not because you’re doing it automatically.

8. Spending Champion Books on the Wrong Champions

Books are not farmable through Campaign or normal daily play, so spending one on a Champion who is not a real priority locks a scarce resource into a return that may be too small to notice.

The specific skill node you book also matters. Booking a passive stat increase usually gives you far less value than booking an ability that adds another hit, reduces a cooldown, or extends a buff duration and changes how that skill performs.

Read the skill description before using a Book. Target the node that changes what the ability does, not the one that simply increases a number.

9. Ignoring Masteries on Your Main Champions

You can fully level and gear a champion, use them in Clan Boss and Dungeons every day, and still leave a lot of performance on the table if their Mastery tree is empty. Many new players overlook the system because they don’t discover the Minotaur’s Labyrinth early. Masteries give permanent passive bonuses that no Gear set can replace, including stat increases, Turn Meter effects, and damage modifiers. Start running the Labyrinth from Day 1 and build the Mastery tree on your most-used champion before moving on to others. HellHades has detailed champion-specific Mastery recommendations if you’re unsure which path to choose.

10. Equipping Gear Based on Set Name Instead of the Stats You Actually Need

Completing a named Artifact set and equipping all six pieces without checking their individual stats is one of the most common early-game habits and one of the most quietly damaging.

Speed Boots with a flat HP main stat do not improve a damage Champion’s turn order, regardless of which set they complete.

A set bonus can strengthen a build made from good individual pieces, but it cannot fix pieces with poor or mismatched stats.

Check the main stat and substats on every piece first. Only chase the set bonus if every piece is actually worth using on that Champion.

11. Selling or Keeping Gear Without Understanding Which Main Stats Matter

Whether you’re clearing your inventory randomly or keeping everything because you’re unsure what to sell, the main problem is the same: you haven’t identified the factor that determines a Gear piece’s long-term value.

Chest armor, gloves, and boots can have percentage-based main stats such as percentage HP, Defense, or Attack. These stats scale with your champion’s total stats at every stage of the game. Flat-stat versions of those same slots don’t scale in the same way, no matter how much you upgrade them. Use the main stat as your first filter when checking every piece.

12. Spending Too Much Silver Upgrading Temporary Gear

Taking a Campaign drop from +12 to +16 can feel worthwhile at the time. But if you replace that piece with something better within a week, the hundreds of thousands of Silver you spent are simply gone. Repeat that across three or four champions over a month, and your account can run out of Silver exactly when Champion Ranking, Gear upgrades, and Mastery scroll farming need large amounts of it.

Keep early Gear around +8, check which substat the upgrade reveals, and only push it further if the piece is likely to stay on that champion for more than two weeks.

13. Ignoring Speed When Building Early-Game Champions

Building Champions around Attack, HP, and Defense while ignoring Speed across your Artifact slots and substats can directly limit your performance in content where turn order determines the outcome.

Champions who fall below an important Speed threshold may act after key enemy abilities have already fired instead of acting before them.

That timing difference can affect Clan Boss, Dungeons, and Arena on every run, regardless of how strong the Champion’s other stats are.

For Champions active in these systems, prioritize Speed Boots and treat Speed substats as a genuine priority alongside their other core stats.

14. Letting Energy Sit at the Cap

Energy regeneration stops as soon as your Energy reaches the cap. That means every minute you stay offline with full Energy is regeneration you permanently lose. Energy doesn’t continue building beyond the maximum. Run one Campaign stage on Auto before logging out to bring your Energy below the cap and keep regeneration running while you’re away.

15. Spending Energy Without Knowing What You’re Trying to Progress

The opposite problem is spending Energy every session without having a clear goal.

That creates the feeling that you are being active without actually making meaningful progress.

Moving between a Dungeon floor that is not giving you useful drops, a Campaign chapter you have already cleared, and an event stage unrelated to your current needs sends Energy out of your account without moving one specific system forward.

Before each session, choose one current goal and direct your Energy toward it.

Even a broad goal such as Champion XP farming or a specific Dungeon floor is enough to keep your sessions productive.

16. Farming Dungeons Before You Can Farm Them Efficiently

Jumping straight into Dragon 10 because the Gear looks better can be one of the most expensive early decisions you make, especially if your team fails regularly or needs several attempts for every useful drop.

A team that clears Dragon 8 consistently on Auto can produce more useful results than a team manually grinding Dragon 10 with only a 40% success rate. You’ll get better Gear volume and better Energy efficiency from consistent runs. If your clears aren’t reliable, drop down a floor and stabilize your team. Move back up once you can run the lower floor consistently on Auto.

17. Ignoring Campaign as the Foundation of Early Progression

Once Dungeons and Arena become available, many players start treating Campaign like something they’ve already finished. But Campaign provides one of the most accessible combinations of Silver, Champion XP, and early Gear, all from a single Energy spend. No other system gives you all three at the same cost.

Keep Campaign in your daily routine alongside Dungeon farming. It’s one of the systems that helps fund everything else on your account.

18. Wasting Campaign XP by Leveling an Inefficient Team

Running Campaign with four developed Champions wastes the XP from each run on units that have already reached maximum level, while your food Champions and next development priority sit unused in the Vault.

Each Campaign stage distributes a fixed amount of XP across the party. Maxed Champions still receive their share, but they gain no further development from it.

Build each Campaign party around one farmer who clears the stage and fill the remaining slots with food or the next Champion you plan to develop.

The Silver reward stays the same either way. The development value does not.

19. Ignoring Daily Missions Until They Become an Afterthought

You can spend an entire session running Campaign and Dungeon battles, complete three Daily Mission objectives without even trying, and then log out without opening the Mission tab. The Silver, Gems, Energy, and XP from those completed missions simply remain unclaimed.

Daily Missions don’t require extra Energy because they run alongside the activities you’re already doing. Make it a habit to check the Mission tab when you log in and again before you log out. It takes less than ten seconds to collect your rewards.

20. Ignoring Longer-Term Missions and Challenges That Guide Progression

Missing daily rewards is one thing, but overlooking the Arbiter quest chain is a much bigger problem.

This multi-stage chain appears in the Mission and Challenge menus, and many new players never find it because they don’t explore those menus during their first few weeks. The Arbiter chain acts as the game’s structured progression guide. It takes you through the right systems at the right time and rewards you with a free 6-star champion when completed.

That’s one of the most important milestones available to any player, regardless of spending, and it’s also a major requirement for moving beyond the early Arena tiers. Open these menus on Day 1 and treat the chain as an ongoing objective that you progress every week.

21. Chasing Every Event or Tournament Reward

When an event launches with a Legendary champion at the highest milestone, it’s tempting to chase it. But top-tier event rewards are designed for accounts with established Dungeon teams, large Shard reserves, and plenty of Silver. If you spend your Energy, Shards, and Silver chasing a milestone your account can’t realistically reach, you can create a resource shortage that slows your progress for two or three weeks.

Before committing to an event, compare the resources required for the milestone with what those same resources could give you through normal daily farming.

22. Spending Gems Without Knowing What They’re Best Used For

It’s easy to spend Gems whenever the game offers a prompt: a small speed-up here, a minor bundle there, or another inventory slot you thought you needed. None of these purchases feels important on its own, but the cost adds up quickly. For a new account, two uses consistently provide more value than the others: Energy refills during active farming sessions and Mastery unlocks for your core champions. Both provide returns that Silver and normal Gear upgrades can’t match.

Before spending Gems on anything else, ask whether it gives you more value than either of those two uses. If the answer isn’t clearly yes, save the Gems.

23. Spending Shards Immediately Instead of Planning Their Use

Opening an Ancient or Sacred Shard the moment you receive it means pulling at the standard rates.

Holding that Shard for a 2x Summon Event can double your chance of getting an Epic or Legendary from the same resource.

Mystery Shards have low individual value, so you can open them freely when you need food.

Ancient, Sacred, and Void Shards are worth saving until a confirmed event window.

24. Treating the Clan as Optional Instead of Using Its Progression Systems

Many new players delay joining a Clan because they think their roster isn’t strong enough to contribute. But Clan Boss is available at Normal difficulty from the beginning, and you receive six Clan Boss keys every day regardless of how developed your team is. Every day you spend outside a Clan means another set of keys expires without producing anything.

Join a beginner-friendly Clan within your first three days and start using those keys.

25. Joining a Clan Without Contributing to Clan Activities

Joining a Clan and then never opening the Clan menu means your membership gives you almost the same results as having no Clan at all. Your six daily Clan Boss keys expire at reset. Clan Quest rewards remain unclaimed. Clan Shop currency builds up without being used. The Clan systems are already available to you; you simply need to use them.

Make the Clan tab a regular stop every time you log in. Spend your Clan Boss keys at the highest difficulty your team can handle, check the Quest tab for tasks that match your planned session, and visit the Shop before the currency resets.

First-Week RAID Checklist

Your first week isn’t about rushing through every system in RAID. It’s about making the right decisions early, so you don’t have to undo them later.

The actions below turn the 25 mistakes above into practical RAID Shadow Legends beginner tips you can apply during your first seven days.

Before creating your account

  • Go to https://moduletd.com/raid-shadow-legends-promo-codes/, choose two starter champions, generate your personal promotional link, and select a promo code champion before creating your account
  • Check which codes are labeled New Player and which are All Player before entering anything in-game
  • Choose your starter champion based on their early-game role and what your team actually needs, not their rarity or visual design

Champion development

  • Put your XP into one Campaign farmer until they can clear stages on Auto
  • Check every Rare champion’s kit before feeding them. Commons and Uncommons can go straight to food
  • Know what team gap a champion fills before you spend Books or build a full Gear set for them
  • Book the skill upgrade that changes what an ability does, rather than one that only increases a percentage
  • Add Minotaur’s Labyrinth runs to your daily routine from Day 1 and build the Mastery tree on your most-used champion first

Gear and Silver

  • Use the main stat as your first filter when deciding whether to keep or sell a Gear piece
  • Upgrade early Gear to +8, check the revealed substat, and only upgrade further if the piece is likely to stay equipped for more than two weeks
  • Look for Speed Boots and Speed substats whenever you’re building a champion for Dungeons, Clan Boss, or Arena

Energy and progression

  • Run one Campaign stage on Auto before logging out so your Energy doesn’t stay capped while you’re offline
  • Choose one progression objective before each session and direct your Energy toward it
  • Keep Campaign in your daily routine alongside Dungeon farming as a regular priority, not just a fallback option
  • Fill every Campaign party slot beyond your farmer with food champions or the next champion you’re developing

Daily habits and Clan

  • Check the Mission tab when you log in and again before you log out, and claim everything you’ve completed
  • Open the Mission and Challenge menus on Day 1, find the Arbiter chain, and make steady progress on it every week
  • Join a Clan within your first three days and use all six Clan Boss keys at Normal difficulty
  • Save your Ancient and Void Shards until a confirmed 2x Summon Event is active before opening them
  • Save your Gems for Energy refills and Mastery unlocks. Before spending them elsewhere, ask whether that purchase actually provides more value than either of those two uses
