Sometimes, despite reading detailed reviews and receiving encouraging feedback from fellow gamers, a PC title doesn’t always live up to its billing. In fact, it can happen on any gaming platform. However, in 2025, there have been some much-loved releases that have recorded a great deal of success and kept gamers everywhere entertained throughout the year so far.

For PC gamers, there certainly isn’t a shortage of alluring adventures to consider embarking on. From open-world offerings in a Wild West setting like Red Dead Redemption 2, to enticing online slots for foodies like Fred’s Food Truck, there are so many enticing products to allocate some of your valuable time and attention to. The options don’t end there either, especially when assessing some of the biggest hit releases of the year so far.

With that in mind, below is a brief lowdown on six of the finest PC games to play right now in 2025. From sports titles to action-adventure games, there is something for everyone in there.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

A game that has gone down a treat on numerous platforms this year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is well worth sampling on PC. When it was released in April, the title immediately wowed gaming communities. This Persona-inspired French RPG has so much going for it, with the game’s main quest captivating players from the outset. If you fancy triumphing over The Paintress and traversing an eye-catching world, then Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is definitely the one for you.

Elden Ring: Nightreign

As far as spin-offs go, Elden Ring: Nightreign is one of the most highly anticipated options of the year. In fact, for many PC gamers, it’s one of the finest new instalments ever made. A title that is different from the rest, one of its best aspects is undoubtedly the game’s varying map, which continually keeps the product fresh with every session. Likewise, Elden Ring: Nightreign also shines when looking at its tough boss battles and challenging loot systems. As far as roguelike games go, Elden Ring: Nightreign is definitely up there with the very best of them.

Rematch

Similar in many respects to beloved titles like Rocket League, Rematch contains the same soccer-like battles, except they’re involving humans in 5v5 matches. With gamers having one virtual player on the team to take control of, teamwork is paramount in this one. Whether you’re playing online against random players or you’re teaming up with your buddies, this soccer-themed gem is definitely worth exploring.

Split Fiction

If you’re in need of an action-adventure masterpiece, then it’s hard to look past Split Fiction. A release that came to the fore early in the year, it’s impossible not to be drawn in by the variety of worlds in Split Fiction. A co-op escapade like no other, you deserve to experience the stunning visual package on offer in this undisputed favourite.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Released in September, Hollow Knight: Silksong has a large community of happy gamers behind it. This enticing metroidvania is the sequel to Hollow Knight, a release from 2017, and it hasn’t disappointed. A challenge many PC gamers relish tackling, the game’s haunted world, filled with endless possibilities, makes for a truly unforgettable gaming experience.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Sometimes it’s best to leave the classics alone. However, Doom: The Dark Ages bucks the trend. Released in May, this eighth entry of the iconic Doom franchise is special. From the all-action offering it contains, to its crisper-than-usual graphics, this first-person shooter is seriously epic. If you’ve enjoyed products like Doom Eternal, then you’ll adore Doom: The Dark Ages.
