Hey everyone, I’m doing my best to put together lists for all the big tournaments that are going on this weekend! At the moment this page is still a work in progress, but hopefully it will be up and running by the time the event starts. I’ll be updating it as I play, and will try to keep my comments brief and to the point. Let me know if you have any questions about the list or what I should change.
The Orlando Open is an event organized by the Florida State Warhammer 40k B.A.T.T.L.E.N.T.S. (Battle Brothers Team League) community. This year the event will be hosted at the Multi-Conference Center in Orlando, Florida from May 31st – June 1st, 2013. The event is open to players of all skill levels, though the main focus of the event is on the Warhammer 40k Battle Brother Team League. This is a great event for those who are new to the World of 40k, as well as veterans looking for a new opponent or a last ditch chance to win an overall event.
There is a new list that has been making waves in the 40k scene recently: Biel-Tan Deathwatch. While the list hasn’t been seen at a national level, it has been used by multiple players to win events at local and regional level. Today, we take a look at one of those lists and take a look at how it works and why it is so effective.
As part of the US Open Series 2021, Games Workshop is bringing back the inaugural Warhammer US Open Series, which will be held in Orlando, Florida. Three days of competitive Warhammer 40k gaming were held, with two surprises among the top three! Have you noticed the absence of Drukhari? The first surprise, without a doubt… The other is that a Custodes-only list took third place with a six-point advantage!
The Grand Tournament of Warhammer 40,000
Here’s how the competition operated, according to Games Workshop:
“There will be 256 player slots available in the Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournaments, which will utilize objectives and regulations from the most recent Grand Tournament mission pack. After four rounds, all players will be seeded into pods of 16 players with similar records, ensuring that the next rounds be played against opponents with whom they are most similarly suited. There will be three rounds on Friday, three rounds on Saturday, and two bracketed Final Rounds on Sunday for each event.
The Warhammer Age of Sigmar Grand Tournaments will include 128 players and will use objectives, pairings, and scoring systems from the upcoming next edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar! On Saturday, there will be three rounds, and on Sunday, there will be three rounds.
Each event will offer two top prizes: one to the person with the best overall record (ties will be broken based on the quality of their competitive performance), and the other to the player with the best combined paint and competitive score. There will be many more prizes given out in categories including army painting, bracket victories, and runner-up finishes.”

First Place Winner in Warhammer 40,000!
Richard Siegler and his Admech list took first place. This ranking employs a Forgeworld that differs from the Competitive standard. Forgeworld Metalica is the name of the band. Metallica has two Coded Supplements, making them a highly powerful forgeworld. The first is for Metalica, while the second is the Skitarii Veteran Cohort, which is part of the Army of Renown.
Winning List for the US Open Warhammer 40,000
The Metalican Lung, which has a re-roll to wound aura for any Metalican unit firing at a target within 3” of the bearer, should be avoided. Naturally, you’ll need to get that guy there, which is why the AshRunner warlord trait exists. You’re not transforming a Tech Priest into a melee monster, but rather disembarking off a Skorpius Dunerider Transport, 3″ + 9″ Move + Advance roll (which for Metalica may be an auto 6 on any unit), and the all-important reroll to wound can get there.
Any number of troops may travel on the vehicle, but for now, the 5 man Vanguard squads are being considered. Metallican Vanguard squads have access to a 6” aura of -1 Strength and Toughness when combined with reroll all wounds.
The employment of melee and quick moving units, such as the Ruststalkers, in the Obscuring terrain of these events gives a lot of punch backed up by excellent admech firepower. The MSU soldiers in a renowned army perform well with their 5++ invulnerable saves and can do great screening and simple operations.
This list has a total of 6 Free CP built into it. With so many units clamoring to join in depending on the objective, Raise the flags, Engage, Eradication of flesh, and any secondary action will get you points.
So, how did Mr. Siegler handle Ironstriders’ Admech nerf? He just did not accept any. Clearly, it worked. Once again, congratulations.

Best wishes to John Lennon. The terrain was predetermined, unlike the Lone Star Open Warhammer 40k Tournament, preventing the usage of the Sisters Fortification. However, in John’s capable hands, this has given him the option of substituting a rhino for the same points. This enables one Repentia unit to be shielded while also providing a counterpunch to any army that approaches.

The Custodes list is made up of many different components. Trajan Valoris’ aura allows him to reroll hits and wounds. Excellent for a unit with a 2+ weapon and ballistic skill. The Triple Telemon, with their T8, 2+ save, 4++ invulnerable save, -1 damage, and a 6+++ disregard wounds ability, may be difficult for Drukhari to manage. Yes, they are capable of taking a blow. As Shadow Keepers, however, they may decrease the power of assaults directed at a single unit, which is especially useful when they can turn off any re-rolls against that unit.
Overview of the Warhammer 40,000 Winning List
They’re also capable of delivering a thrashing. Their Fist has a flat damage of 4, which Steve Trimble paired with Eternal Penitent to give each one a total of 6 assaults. This list does, however, include some range play. When utilizing Superior Fire Patterns, Pistol 2 shots from Venatari may become pistol 4 with bursting 6’s to hit for additional shots out of the unit. One way is to employ Blood Games Veterans, which will enable the unit to wound on a 6 to hit automatically. The extra hits from the pistol’s profile would still have to roll in order to injure.

The US Open Warhammer 40k top lists are now complete!
The 40k (40K) is a tabletop miniature wargame, by Fantasy Flight Games, based on the fictional universe of the Warhammer 40k universe. The 40k is a competitive game, where one player controls the forces of a faction (e.g. an Imperial Knight, a Chaos Marine, or Tyranid Hive Tyrant) and engages in tactical battles on the tabletop..
