When we look at one of the biggest and most competitive games of all time, CSGO fits that bill to a tee. The game has become a phenomenon in the gaming industry with it being wildly popular even after 12 years of it being released. With this, things relating to the game have grown and become just as popular, with the biggest being the gambling side.

The Start and The Rise

CSGO gambling gained its popularity in the early 2010s when new skins were added by the company Valve. Skins are virtual items that CS2 players can add to their players and guns to make them look even better and enhance your experience! When skins were first added they were just for collections but over time their value increased and trading started to become a massive part of the game.

When skins started to rise and grow, other companies started to emerge as gambling services. With these, CS Gambling grew even bigger and players started betting their skins on CS games. Other sites also offer other types of CSGO gambling like coin flips, roulette and even jackpot systems.

The Skins

While CSGO skins are visually appealing and attractive to players, now they have a significant value in the gaming community.

Some really popular skins have gone for thousands of dollars and the trading system has made the community of CSGO even larger. As an example, I had an AK-47 Fire Serpent skin that I made around $700 on early in the gambling takeover for CS. As someone with first-hand experience, I know that gambling on CS is a huge factor and fun for CS players. Some players have massive inventories that are really expensive and will want to use their attractive and expensive skins to add some extra excitement to their game, this leads to my next point.

Competitive Nature

As I said earlier, CSGO is a widely competitive game and has leagues and Esports tournaments regularly. With this, the more regular players also became competitive, even if they don’t play in tournaments they still have a competitive nature. Of course, this translates to the gambling aspect and it may even have a more competitive spirit than the gaming side. Personally, as someone who has been playing CSGO for around a decade, I have slowly lost my spark as time goes on. But, with CS Gambling, I am getting the spark back and becoming more interested.

Social Effects

CSGO is one of the few games that have a really tight-knit community. From my experiences with other games in the past like FIFA (EAFC now) or even Call of Duty, CSGO is the one that brings people together the most. This is shown in an even bigger way with the gambling. When the gambling side of CSGO became more popular, YouTubers and Streamers saw this as a big market and showed their CSGO gambling experiences.

The effects YouTubers and Streamers had were huge as it opened the gambling side of the game up to more people. Also, having their own community get involved improved the social impact a lot.

The Overall Impact

The impact of gambling is massive for many reasons and the most important is the money it brings in for the game and the developers involved. Not only this, but the people who make the skins (Valve) also get good money from this. More people want good skins and this means more people are putting money into the game.

Not only this, but esports has seen an increase in players and viewers since CSGO became one of the biggest games in the world. I wasn’t a fan of esports until I fell in love with CSGO. I wanted to watch people who were extremely talented for fun and to learn more things about how to play. This is a thing a lot of fans bought into because of the competitiveness that I have mentioned.
