Resident Evil 8, also known as Village with the digits VIII in the title, is the next title in the PS5 series. With such a slight reboot that the seventh game brought, I was honestly ready to see this new first-person approach in future games. Does this final volume move things forward by introducing werewolves and possibly vampires?
We’ve seen the game’s trailer, but I’m happy to announce that as of January 2021, we know that Resident Evil Village will release on the 7th. May 2021 is coming! A demo of PS5 is now available!
Sickness of residents: SP5 Demonstration of girls’ experience
Those of you swinging by the PS5 in your game room, basement, den, etc. will be happy to know that you can download a short demo of Resident Evil : The place is called Maidenhead. It should be noted that this is a short experiment that takes place outside of the main game and in which the main character is simply called Maiden. It should be a visual showcase of sorts, with simple puzzles and a few good scares.
Secondly, a tighter demo should be available for all consoles a few days before launch. Let’s talk about how it was! It took me about 20 minutes to finish the demo, with some useless thoughts and a moment where I didn’t know how to proceed.
It’s a little short, but it’s just a teaser. What I do want to say is that the visuals did not disappoint! The castle setting is reminiscent of Castlevania, but the atmosphere is very much in line with the latest Resident Evil. The 4K display with HDR on the OLED screen showed amazing detail and reflections. The framing rate was high for the most part, although I know the main stage area is down a bit thanks to Digital Foundry’s excellent analysis of the demo.
There are only a few jumps in this teaser, and everything else is left to the great atmosphere, sound design, and fear of the unknown. I wasn’t playing with headphones, but I did have a soundbar/speaker in the back that basically set the tone for the whole demo.
Like I said, there are no fights, but there is some light interaction with objects and a bit of guesswork. Towards the end of the experiment, the tension builds up quite nicely before everything ends abruptly, which really gives us a taste of the action of the series, which is known for its high adrenaline content. And of course, the beautiful Lady Dimitrescu also makes her appearance.
Overall, I’d say Maiden is extremely effective as a preview of the overall experience, and convinces fans who enjoyed RE7 that the atmosphere and horror are still fully intact. Skeptics may not be convinced by this brief look, but visually it certainly makes a strong impression.
Stay tuned for more information, as well as our impressions from the second demo this spring!
