Have you ever wondered how the Navy Seals train for their missions? Or how the FBI go about solving a crime? Or how firefighters put out fires? Or how a company like Google manages to keep its servers running 24-7? As a rule, these people are not allowed to talk about the matters in question in public. But that doesn’t stop them from playing the same games they train and hunt, hunt and train. And because there’s no official training program or secret mission, they can and do play plenty of fun PC games while attempting to defeat or solve the problems at hand.

In the age of the modern games console, there is a lot of piracy going on. Many people are not happy with the lack of choice when it comes to pirate games, so they side with the pirates and go for the games that are not officially released. However, you don’t have to do that. These are some pirate games that you can play if you want to.

How To Use ThinkOfGames Guides: The 2026 Quick-Start Guide To Finding Reliable Game Walkthroughs

June 18, 2026

For the past few years, I have been trying to rekindle my long lost love for pirates. Growing up, I didn’t really like them, but when I got older and more mature, I began to appreciate the swashbuckler theme. Pirates have always been an outcast. The good and bad ones, alike. Their roots are in piracy, which is exactly why I decided to do a blog post about it..

For generations, they have been the scourge of the seas. They plunder ships and loot cities and leave dust behind. Few ships are safe in the waters where their criminal empires were built. Many of them live in stories and legends. They’re pirates!

Pirates occupy a unique place in modern history and fiction. They were portrayed as freedom-seeking brigands or plunderers bent on wealth. Sometimes they can be both at the same time.

Whether story or fantasy, pirate games abound. Turn the sails and go full speed ahead.

Here’s a list of the 7 best pirate games of all time.

1. Assassin’s Creed IV : Black Flag

best pirate games - assasins creed

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is best known for its open-world explorations, which are usually set in story-driven cities. Unlike most parts in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is known for its excellent sea combat and exploration in addition to land combat.

The player takes the role of Edward Kenway, a young pirate from Wales who becomes embroiled in a conflict between the Assassins and the Templars in his quest for riches. Edward is the captain of the Spanish brig Jackdaw, which he has captured.

While Black Flag creates its own identity with its naval aspects, it still retains a flavor that fans of the franchise will long recognize. The action is set in a fictional story with a hint of historical characters.

During his travels the player encounters legendary outlaws such as Mary Reid, Ann Bonney, Charles Vane, Black Bart Roberts and the infamous Blackbeard. After the negative reception of the previous Assassin’s Creed games, Black Flag was literally a breath of fresh air for the franchise. Battleship has been praised by consumers and critics alike. The stealth aspects of the game have been improved and made more flexible.

This allowed players to use more original solutions for stealth kills, which was also appreciated by critics and players. Some even consider Black Flag more of a pirate game than an Assassin’s Creed game. It has received many positive views and several awards and nominations. Most importantly, Black Flag is truly a fun and refreshing experience for veterans of the franchise and newcomers alike.

2. Sid Meier’s Pirates! (2004 remake)

Sid Meier’s Pirates! (2004 remake)

Sid Meyer’s name resonates with many strategy gamers and represents a kind of intrinsic quality of his work. Sid Meier’s Pirates is no exception. The player begins as a boy whose family has been sold into slavery by the Marquis of Montalban to pay off a large debt.

The boy plots his revenge on the Marquis and carries it out ten years later. He joins the ship’s crew and leads the mutiny to become the new captain.

After that, the player has an open-ended campaign to gain fame and fortune. Every member of the hero’s family can be saved by meeting the Marquis of Montalban and Baron Raymundo. Each successful encounter with them unlocks a section of the world map where a family member is held captive.

The open campaign is filled with quests and stories to explore, and the gameplay consists of several mini-games that use both the hero’s and the player’s skills. The hero can fight on land and sea, trade in the ports, dance with the nobles and much more. Many random factors in the game make each game new and unique.

Although the graphics are a bit dated, the gameplay is solid enough to be worth a try.

3. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

The Legend of Zelda

Fans of the Zelda series know the standard storyline of the games. The evil Ganon threatens Hyrule, and Zelda and Link try to stop him. In Wind Waker, Ganon was arrested centuries ago and flooded Hyrule, leaving only the mountains as islands in the vast ocean.

Technically, Wind Waker is a pirate game only in spirit. In the game, Zelda is Tetra, the pirate captain with whom Link must cooperate. In his quest to defeat Ganon, Link sails across the ocean in his magical, talking boat, the Red Lion King. The game is controlled by a combination of the Red Lion King and the Wind Waker, a magical staff that controls the wind.

The game is made in a cel-shaded art style and has received good overviews from critics and mixed reactions from players. Although Link is still a hero and would never plunder like most pirates do, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker has enough charm to make life at sea acceptable to players.

4. Escape from Monkey Island

Escape from Monkey Island

Escape from Monkey Island is a decades-old point-and-click adventure game. The main character is Guybrush Threepwood, a pirate who returns home after their honeymoon with his wife Elaine Marley.

Elaine was governor of the Tri-Island area until she was falsely declared dead in her absence. A man named Charles is running for governor, and Guybrush tries to solve the list of problems in his own hilarious way.

The Monkey Island series is known for its excellent writing style, and Escape from Monkey Island is no exception. Escape from Monkey Island combines the jokes and pop culture references well with the game’s hilarious scenarios and decisions.

Although the game didn’t survive very well, Escape from Monkey Island was the first in the series to use CGI, which was a huge leap forward at the time. Still, you play an adventure game primarily for the story and the crazy puzzle solutions, and Escape from Monkey Island does both very well.

5. Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is perhaps the ultimate fantasy pirate game. In the game, players can pirate alone or in teams of up to four players and the game supports cross-platform play between Xbox 1 and PC. Sea of Thieves has a huge open world full of different quests and loot.

Players perform various tasks on a pirate ship, such as. B. sailing, steering, hoisting the sails and firing the guns. The open world is also a shared world, which means that players can meet other groups of players and work together or fight battles on ships or on land.

Sea of Thieves conveys the adventure of pirate life and the uncertainty that comes with it. At some point, the group can become rich after a series of quests and looting. Otherwise, their boat might sink with all the treasures. Managing a ship can be a big challenge.

Players must constantly be on the lookout for threats, and navigation, sails, and controls must be well coordinated to keep the ship moving quickly. Sea of Thieves is a very rewarding experience to play alone or with a group of friends who want to be part of the pirate experience.

6. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean

LEGO likes to make LEGO adaptations of TV and movie franchise designs and vehicles. With them, LEGO also likes to create video game adaptations of these TV and movie franchises in their own unique LEGO style.

Pirates of the Caribbean received its LEGO set and video game in May 2011, coinciding with Pirates of the Caribbean: The movie On Stranger Tides is out. The game follows the standard LEGO game format.

These films are presented in a playful manner with different characters of well-known players who can solve puzzles in their own way. The silliness of the game is matched by Jack Sparrow’s attitude and behavior. At one point, Jack rides the goats in Davy Jones’ locker. It’s like Jack Sparrow.

All LEGO games are made without dialogue. The characters use movement and acting to convey what is going on, as does the soundtrack of the film. This combination increases the comedy factor of the game and adds a much needed light-hearted charm to the slow-motion scenes in the movies.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean lets you relive the atmosphere of the films and play as Jack Sparrow and his friends, taking you on even more fun pirate adventures.

7. Stormy Seas

Stormy Seas

Furious Seas is a VR pirate game. Even though the game is still in early access, the graphics and features are already excellent. A Vibe or Oculus headset is a great way to act as a pirate captain.

As an early access game, it can improve significantly over time. However, the current state is excellent and a lot of effort has gone into the game. The developers have done everything they can to reduce motion sickness, and are already working on online multiplayer and open world exploration.

The path of a pirate is paved with blood and fame. It has inspired movies, books and video games. The mystique of the Caribbean and the Emerald Sea, and the golden treasures hidden there, are enough to inspire many people to become pirates.

Although it is illegal to be a pirate these days and few people can become pirates in real life, pirate fantasies can still be fulfilled through the video games mentioned here and many others from the past and future. With the rise of the reigning world’s-best strategy games, like Starcraft and Warcraft III, the popularity of pirate games has faded, and the last few years have seen a big decline in the number of pirate games that were created. The main reason for this is because people only want to play games that have a strong strategic element.. Read more about multiplayer pirate game and let us know what you think.
